October Bee Blocks

October blocks for Sew.Quilt.Give.
For Sew.Quilt.Give. this month, Maria asked for string blocks a la this tutorial in greens and yellows with a touch of gray. String blocks! Yay!

(It's been weirdly sunny for weeks here in Seattle. I totally should have filtered the sunlight somehow for this picture!)

I'm feeling a bit more confident about my colors mixing well with everyone else's this time. It doesn't hurt that greens were some of the colors I picked up when I added some fat quarters to the stash for the August blocks.

Really looking forward to seeing how this one turns out!

(Don't forget! The giveaway for the Charming Travelers closes on Wednesday evening!)

  1. Well, I'll just have to join this next time it comes around since I will have a grand-baby boy to sew for very soon. Meantime I need to finish some quilts for wrapping our family Christmas present when he arrives in December!

  2. Oh, I meant for the previous comment to go with the Kid's Clothing Challenge Week. For these lovely green blocks I wanted to say the pattern remind me of Mary Ellen Hopkins' Hidden Wells design which is a favorite of mine and one of the baby quilts I've been whipping up out of old unfinished projects is a Hidden Wells. You are one busy sewist!
